The basics

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Dubai?

Yes. An ordinary Indian passport does not get visa-free entry into the United Arab Emirates. You need an approved entry permit in hand before the airline will let you board.

The good news is that the Dubai tourist visa is one of the simplest visas an Indian can apply for. There is no embassy interview, no biometrics appointment and no sticker to collect. The UAE does not issue tourist visas through its embassy in India at all. Applications are filed online with Dubai's immigration authority, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai), through a licensed sponsor such as an authorised travel agency, an airline or a hotel.

What comes back is an e-visa: a PDF entry permit carrying your name, passport number, visa number and validity dates. You print it, carry it with your passport and show it at immigration in Dubai. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why the quality of the documents you upload matters far more than anything else.

One thing travellers often miss: a visa issued for Dubai is a UAE entry permit. Once you are in, you are free to visit Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and the other emirates on the same visa.

Choose correctly

Types of Dubai tourist visa for Indians

Picking the wrong category is an expensive mistake, because UAE visa fees are not refunded once an application is processed. Match the visa to how you will actually travel, not to the cheapest line on a price list.

Visa typeStay after arrivalEntriesBest suited for
30-day tourist visa, single entry30 daysOneHolidays, shopping trips, short family visits. The most popular choice from India.
30-day tourist visa, multiple entry30 days from first entrySeveralTrips that include a cruise or a side visit to Oman, Qatar or Bahrain and back.
60-day tourist visa, single entry60 daysOneLong stays with family, extended holidays, senior parents visiting children.
60-day tourist visa, multiple entry60 days from first entrySeveralFrequent flyers who will leave and return within two months.
5-year multiple-entry tourist visaUp to 90 days per visit, capped at 180 days in a yearUnlimitedRegular visitors. Needs stronger financial proof and is assessed more strictly.
Transit visa, 48 or 96 hours48 or 96 hoursOneStopovers with an onward ticket out of the UAE. Cannot be extended.

Categories as published by Dubai's tourism authority and GDRFA. All tourist e-visas are valid for entry for 60 days from the date of issue.

Single entry means single entry. The moment you exit the UAE, the visa is finished, even if you have 20 days left on it. If your itinerary leaves the country and comes back, ask us for a multiple-entry visa.

Check this first

Can Indians get a Dubai visa on arrival?

Some can. The UAE runs a conditional visa-on-arrival scheme for Indian ordinary passport holders who already hold a qualifying visa or residence permit from certain countries. If that is you, you may not need a pre-arranged e-visa at all, and we would rather tell you that than sell you one.

Issued byWhat you must hold
United StatesGreen Card, or a US visa valid for at least 6 months
United KingdomResidence permit, or a valid UK visa (including the digital eVisa), valid for at least 6 months
European Union member stateResidence permit, or a visa issued by an EU country, valid for at least 6 months
Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, SingaporeResidence permit valid for at least 6 months. A visit visa alone is not accepted; Singapore student passes are excluded.

Eligibility table as published on Emirates' UAE visa page, August 2026, in line with ICP criteria.

  • Two options: a 14-day entry permit, which can be extended once for a further 14 days, or a 60-day single-entry permit that cannot be extended.
  • Official fees: the ICP lists AED 100 for the 14-day permit and AED 250 for the 60-day permit. Service charges are added depending on where you pay.
  • Passport: an ordinary Indian passport valid for at least six months. Accompanying family members are covered only if they qualify too.
  • Pre-approval: eligible travellers can also get the permit approved online before flying, which avoids the counter queue on landing.

A word of caution. This list has been revised more than once since 2024, and the UAE authorities have signalled further changes for holders of UK residence visas. Airline check-in staff apply the rule in force on the day you fly. Call us with your visa details before booking and we will confirm whether you qualify.

Document checklist

Documents required for a Dubai tourist e-visa from India

Everything is submitted as a scan. You keep your original passport with you throughout. Since late 2024 Dubai immigration has asked for hotel and return-ticket proof at the application stage itself, so a passport copy and a photograph are no longer enough.

Core documents, every applicant

  • Passport, first and last page: clear colour scans of the bio page and the address page. The passport must be machine-readable and valid for at least six months from your travel date. Handwritten passports are not accepted.
  • Passport front cover: a colour scan of the outside cover is now requested by several sponsors.
  • Recent colour photograph: plain light background, to the specification below.
  • Confirmed return or onward air ticket: travel dates should match your hotel dates.
  • Confirmed hotel reservation covering the full stay, in the applicant's name.
  • Travel medical insurance valid in the UAE for the whole trip.
  • PAN card copy for adult applicants.
  • Aadhaar card copy showing your current residential address, front and back.

If you are staying with family or friends

  • Host's Emirates ID and UAE residence visa copy
  • Host's passport copy
  • Tenancy contract (Ejari) in the host's name, in place of a hotel booking
  • Proof of relationship where relevant, such as a marriage or birth certificate

Children and minors

  • Birth certificate in English
  • Passport copies of both parents
  • Consent letter if the child travels with only one parent or with relatives

Photograph specification

  • Recent colour photo on a plain white or light background
  • Face centred, looking straight at the camera, filling most of the frame
  • Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open and unobstructed
  • No caps or hats; glasses only if the lenses are clear with no glare
  • Even lighting, sharp focus, no filters or edits

Carry these on the day you fly

  • A printed copy of the e-visa. Dubai airport carries out random eye-screening checks, and a hard copy is asked for at that counter.
  • Original passport, return ticket and hotel voucher
  • Insurance certificate
  • Access to funds: a card or forex. Airlines in India have, at times, checked that visit-visa passengers hold roughly AED 3,000 or its equivalent.

Good to know: the UAE authorities can ask for additional documents on any application, and the fund thresholds reported for Indian applicants (around AED 3,000 to AED 5,000 depending on the visa) are applied at the officer's discretion. We tell you what your specific file needs before anything is submitted.

How it works

Dubai e-visa application process, step by step

From the first phone call to the visa in your inbox, this is the path your application takes with Beyond Travels.

  1. Tell us your plan

Share your travel dates, who is travelling and where you will stay. We check first whether you qualify for visa on arrival, then recommend the right visa type and quote the day's total fee.

  2. Send your documents

WhatsApp or email your scans. If you would rather not deal with scanning, our door-to-door service collects the papers from your home or office.

  3. We screen the file

Every page is checked against current GDRFA requirements: passport validity, photo quality, matching ticket and hotel dates, name spellings. Problems are fixed before submission, not after a rejection.

  4. Application is lodged

We file the application online through authorised UAE channels and pay the government fee. You receive an acknowledgement the same day.

  5. Immigration decision

Dubai immigration reviews the file. We track it daily and respond immediately if any additional document is requested.

  6. E-visa delivered

The approved visa arrives by email and WhatsApp as a PDF. We verify every detail against your passport and send you a short pre-departure checklist with it.

Timelines

How long does a Dubai tourist visa take?

GDRFA Dubai states that single-entry 30 and 60-day tourist visas are issued within 48 working hours once every required document has been received. In day-to-day practice from India, plan for the following.

StageTypical timeWhat affects it
Document check by our teamSame dayHow complete and legible your scans are
Standard e-visa processing2 to 4 working daysUAE working days only; weekends and public holidays are excluded
Express processingOften 24 to 48 hoursSubject to availability and immigration approval; never guaranteed
5-year multiple-entry visaAround 2 to 5 working daysFinancial documents are reviewed in more depth

When should you apply? Seven to ten days before departure is the sweet spot. Earlier is fine, as long as you remember the visa must be used within 60 days of issue. Applications slow down around Eid, UAE National Day in early December, and the December to January peak when the Dubai Shopping Festival draws heavy traffic from India.

Fees

Dubai tourist visa fees: what your total covers

We do not print a fixed Dubai visa price on this page, and that is deliberate. UAE government charges, the dirham to rupee rate, insurance premiums and urgent-processing surcharges all shift, sometimes within the same month. A number published today could be wrong by the time you read it. What we can show you is exactly what goes into the figure we quote.

Included in our all-in quote

  • UAE government visa fee for the category you choose
  • Mandatory UAE processing and e-service charges, with VAT
  • Travel medical insurance required for the visa
  • Beyond Travels service charge, inclusive of GST, per person
  • Document screening, application filing and daily tracking
  • E-visa delivery by email and WhatsApp

Quoted separately, only if you need them

  • Express or urgent processing
  • Confirmed flight tickets and hotel bookings
  • Door-to-door document pick-up and drop
  • Visa extension from inside the UAE
  • Refundable security deposit, where the sponsor asks for one
  • Forex cards and currency

Please call the agency for the final price

Tell us your travel dates, visa type and number of travellers. You will get one clear, all-inclusive figure per person, with government fees and our service charge shown separately. No hidden add-ons.

Please note: visa fees paid to the UAE authorities are non-refundable once an application has been processed, whatever the outcome. This applies to every agency and airline, not only to us.

Avoid a refusal

Why Dubai visas get rejected, and how to prevent it

Dubai visa approvals for Indians used to be close to automatic. After the documentation rules were tightened in late 2024, agencies across India saw refusals climb sharply. Nearly all of them trace back to a short list of avoidable errors.

Common reasons for refusal

  • Blurred, cropped or glare-affected passport scans
  • Hotel booking or return ticket missing, unconfirmed or with mismatched dates
  • Passport valid for less than six months
  • Name or passport number typed incorrectly on the form
  • An earlier UAE visa that was never used or never cancelled
  • A previous overstay or immigration record in the UAE or GCC
  • Duplicate applications filed through two agents at once

What we do about it

  • Rescan or reshoot documents until every line is readable
  • Align flight, hotel and insurance dates before filing
  • Flag short-validity passports early so you can renew in time
  • Ask about past UAE travel and old visas at the very start
  • Double-check data entry against the passport's machine-readable zone
  • File once, through one channel, and track it properly

Our honest position: no agency can guarantee a visa. The decision rests solely with UAE immigration. What a careful agency can do is make sure your application is never refused for a reason that was within anyone's control.

Once you land

Stay, extension and overstay rules to remember

  • Your stay starts on arrival. A 30-day visa gives you 30 days from the day you enter, not from the day it was issued.
  • Extensions are possible. GDRFA allows 30 and 60-day tourist visas to be extended from inside the country, provided your total continuous stay does not go beyond 120 days. Apply before the visa expires.
  • Overstaying costs money. Dubai's tourism authority lists a standard fine of AED 50 for each day of overstay. It also leaves a mark on your record that can affect future UAE visas.
  • No work on a tourist visa. Paid employment of any kind needs a separate work permit.
  • Check your medicines. Some common prescription drugs are controlled in the UAE. Carry the prescription and keep them in original packaging.
  • Keep the visa copy handy on your phone and on paper until you are back in India.

Important note on overstay penalties: staying in the UAE beyond the permitted period is an immigration offence. Any overstay fine, exit or departure charge, legal penalty or travel ban that results is the sole responsibility of the traveller. Beyond Travels is not liable to pay any overstay penalty or related charge on a guest's behalf, and where a penalty is raised against the sponsor because of a guest's overstay, it will be recovered from the guest in full. Please leave the UAE on or before the last permitted day of your stay.

For entry rules to other destinations on the same trip, see our IATA Travel Centre guide.

Questions we hear daily

Dubai tourist e-visa FAQs for Indian travellers

Do Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Dubai?

Yes. Indian ordinary passport holders need a pre-arranged UAE tourist e-visa before travelling, unless they hold a qualifying visa or residence permit from the US, UK, EU or one of six other approved countries, in which case a conditional visa on arrival may apply.

What exactly is a Dubai e-visa?

It is an electronic entry permit issued by Dubai immigration and sent to you as a PDF. No sticker is placed in your passport in India. You carry a printout along with your passport and present both at immigration on arrival.

How many days does a Dubai tourist visa take from India?

Most applications are decided in 2 to 4 working days after complete documents are submitted. GDRFA's own target for single-entry tourist visas is 48 working hours. We advise applying 7 to 10 days before you fly.

How long is the visa valid, and how long can I stay?

A tourist e-visa must be used within 60 days of the issue date. Once you enter, you may stay for 30 or 60 days depending on the visa you chose.

Do I have to submit my original passport?

No. The entire process runs on scanned copies. Your original passport stays with you from start to finish.

Is a hotel booking and return ticket compulsory?

Yes. Dubai immigration now expects a confirmed return ticket and proof of accommodation with the application. If you are staying with relatives, the host's tenancy contract and Emirates ID replace the hotel booking.

Is travel insurance mandatory for a Dubai visa?

Valid medical insurance covering the UAE is part of the current GDRFA requirement for tourist visas. It is included in the quote we give you.

Can I visit Abu Dhabi on a Dubai tourist visa?

Yes. The visa is a UAE entry permit and is valid across all seven emirates, so Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah are all open to you.

Can a Dubai tourist visa be extended?

Yes, 30 and 60-day tourist visas can be extended from within the UAE, up to a maximum continuous stay of 120 days. The 60-day visa on arrival is the exception and cannot be extended.

How much does a Dubai tourist visa cost for Indians?

The total depends on the visa type, processing speed and current government charges, all of which change through the year. Please call Beyond Travels on +91 93728 95892 for the final all-inclusive price on the day you apply.
