India’s New Digital Arrival Card: Seamless Entry Awaits Global Travelers

BEYOND TRAVELS

The days of juggling paperwork mid-flight and the endless hunt for arrival forms at Indian airports are now a thing of the past. In a major technological leap, India’s Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that from October 2025, all foreign travelers will transition from the traditional paper disembarkation form to a sleek new digital solution—the e-Arrival Card.

What Is the e-Arrival Card?

The e-Arrival Card is a simple, secure, and user-friendly online form required for all foreign nationals entering India. This digital card streamlines entry by allowing travelers to fill out essential information before arrival, ensuring quicker and more efficient processing at immigration counters.

Key details required:

  • Full name

  • Passport number

  • Nationality

  • Purpose of visit (tourism, business, work, study, medical, conference)

  • Date of arrival in India

  • Address and contact details in India

  • Countries visited in the previous six days

No additional documents need to be uploaded and Indian citizens as well as Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) holders are exempt from this procedure.

Introducing India’s digital arrival card

The Indian government has already launched a dedicated portal for the upcoming digital arrival card: indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival.

How Will This Benefit Travelers?

  • No more paper forms: The days of searching for a pen and wrestling with arrival paperwork during flights are gone.

  • Faster immigration clearance: The digital card means travelers can breeze through immigration with lines drastically reduced and most processing completed within seconds at major airports.

  • Eco-friendly entry: By eliminating paper forms, India is taking a step forward in sustainable tourism and global digital trends.

Where To Access and What To Expect

Travelers can access the card via the official portal and submit details within five days before their planned arrival in India. Upon completion, a preview of the submitted card will be available and can be presented upon request at immigration.

The new e-Arrival Card is part of a larger initiative—including the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), now expanded to 13 major airports—to improve border efficiency for travelers and support India’s vision of cutting-edge, welcoming travel experiences.

So far, Indian authorities have not officially announced the potential rollout of the digital arrival card through their usual communication channels.

However, the team at Beyond Travels was able to test the beta version of the digital arrival card. Below is a sample of the card as it appears at the end of the submission process.

Note: The online questionnaire and the generated digital arrival card are currently part of a testing platform. The final version may differ slightly in terms of design or required fields. The system may also be integrated into India’s electronic visa platform (e-Visa)once it’s officially launched.
